I have always loved working with wood. I was lucky enough to have gone through a Middle and High School that offered wood working as well as metal shop and drafting. One of my biggest influences was my High School Wood Shop teacher, Kenneth Austin. He was the one who taught me humility and patience when it comes to the art of working with wood. Thanks Ken.
It has been nearly 40 years since that first wood working class and my passion continues to grow every day. I would say that turning wood on a lathe has been the most rewarding aspect. There will always be something different about each piece I turn. Discovering something beautiful and unusual deep in the wood itself that is revealed as it is turned is always a great experience.
