Roy Overcast, Brentwood TN
Roy Overcast grew up in Shelbyville, Tennessee and received a B.S. Degree from Middle Tennessee State University and an MFA in Sculpture and Clay from The University of Georgia. He studied at Arrowmont School of Crafts in Gatlinburg, Tennessee and was Director of Crafts and Visual Arts for the Tennessee Arts Commission for 10 years. His work has been featured in many publications such as Southern Living, American Craft, Ceramic Monthly, and Country Living.
Roy chose clay to express himself because of its spontaneous, sculptural, and utilitarian aspects. Each piece is made of earthenware or stoneware clay and is designed and executed with spirit of the mind and skill of the hand. He has produced a line of pottery for Cracker Barrel Old Country Store, Bloomingdale’s, American Folk Art Museum, and Opryland USA. Roy Overcast Pottery is a Tennessee tradition to be treasured, used, and enjoyed!
